Jet Pitts Aerobytes puts a one-of-a-kind jet-assisted biplane on the back of your phone.
This is a Marqforde photograph of G-JPIT, Rich Goodwin's Jet Pitts, captured during his display at Shuttleworth in 2026 in its Aerobytes sponsor colours.
About the aircraft
The Jet Pitts began as a Pitts S-2S fuselage and grew into a unique machine over four years of building. Eddie Saurenman designed new wooden wings with larger ailerons for a faster roll and better low-speed handling.
An 8.5-litre Lycoming drives the propeller, while two AMT Lynx turbojets mounted either side of the fuselage add 350 lb of thrust each. With around 1,700 lb of combined thrust against a 1,550 lb airframe, the aircraft can hang on its propeller and hover.
Rich Goodwin flew Tornado GR1s with the RAF, including 21 missions in the 1991 Gulf War, before an airline career and a return to display flying. G-JPIT gained full CAA display authorisation in April 2023, and flight-safety firm Aerobytes became headline sponsor in 2024.

- Thrust to weight: around 1.1 to 1, enough to hover
- Pilot and builder: Rich Goodwin, former RAF Tornado GR1 pilot
- Display authorised: April 2023; Aerobytes sponsorship from 2024
