Dreamliner Descent catches a TUI Boeing 787 head-on on final approach, gear down, landing lights on, the long composite wings flexed upwards in the way only a Dreamliner's do, against a sky of charcoal cloud.
This is an original Marqforde photograph taken from under the approach, the blue nose the one note of colour in a near-monochrome frame.
About the aircraft
The 787 first flew in 2009 and entered service in 2011. Its fuselage and wings are largely carbon-fibre composite, which is why the wings bend so visibly in flight, and the cabin is pressurised to a lower altitude with larger windows and more humidity than earlier airliners.
