Generation 737-800 puts Ryanair UK's Boeing 737-800 G-RUKH on the back of your phone, photographed from directly below as it passes overhead against a clear blue sky.
This is an original Marqforde photograph, taken looking straight up as the jet crossed the camera, a view that traces the swept wing out to its blended winglets.
About the aircraft
Ryanair ordered 25 Next-Generation 737-800s in March 1998 and took the first, EI-CSA, a year later. When the last arrived in December 2018 the airline was the type's largest customer, and in February 2026 the group still flew 410 alongside 196 newer 737-8200s.
G-RUKH is a 737-8AS, line number 2198, first flown on 20 February 2007 and delivered to Ryanair the following month as EI-DPM. In October 2021 it moved to the UK register with Ryanair UK, keeping its 189 seats and CFM56-7B engines.
Ryanair UK gained its Civil Aviation Authority certificate in January 2019 so the group could keep flying UK domestic and non-EU routes after Brexit. In January 2023 Ryanair began a $175 million programme to fit split scimitar winglets to over 400 737-800s, replacing blended winglets like these.
